Yup, that's what I'm saying. Israel cant do this without our help, and we are in no way in a position to give it now. You may be right about the Obama thing, though. If it looks like a forgone conclusion he will get elected Israel will put on the full court press for doing something. I still doubt we would agree, just too risky and, frankly, a big part of the reason we invaded Iraq is so that we wouldnt HAVE to invade Iran (if the detractors want to say the Iraq war is a Neocon deal, they should actually kinda pay attention). Iraq's status now, even if it is just short of a big fat W, is too precarious to go invading Iran any time in the near future. We are going to have to deal with the Iranians through their assured destruction, nothing mutual about it, and we've been at this point for a few years now.

As to all this Iranians and their existing "pro western" views. First if the Israeli's were dumb enough to go it alone, and they aren't, does anyone believe the views held pre-bombing by the Iranians will be the same, post bombing?

Not real sure what you are talking about here. The only reference I made to any views of westerners was dismissing any antiAmerican sentiment from Israelis.

However, as a new point, I also agree with you. There really are some pro western views emerging in Iran, in pretty large numbers. The majority of the Iranians dont like the Mullahs. And yes, bombing Iran would crush that sentiment. Another reason why I'm against going to war with Iran. Always have been. We do have to deal with Iran, and the threat of military action against them needs to be credible. No politician should take it off the table (hence the sabre rattling), officially. Unofficially? Not happening. No way, no chance, no how. At least not in this decade.
